Role Overview
The Lead Communications Technician serves as the on‑site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. This role is responsible for ensuring job completion in alignment with both company and customer safety and quality requirements while maintaining the efficiency and productivity of all assigned staff.
General Job Duties & Responsibilities- Consistently run major project crews and take responsibility for overall performance.
- Provide necessary training and ensure adherence to company and customer safety and quality guidelines.
- Hold weekly safety meetings, initiate performance‑related communication, and escalate issues to the Project Manager when needed.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure productivity, timely job completion, and compliance with the project budget.
- Fully complete all project and company paperwork accurately and on time, including:
- Timesheets
- Material transfers
- Work orders
- Change orders
- Tool transfers
- Additional required documentation
- Perform quality checks; coordinate moves and cut sheets for voice and data cross‑connects; prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings.
- Serve as the main on‑site customer contact for questions and concerns; attend construction and facility meetings as required.
- Perform work consistently with strong technical expertise; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.

- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field.
- Must be able to terminate fiber.
- Minimum of six (6) months of supervisory or managerial experience.
- Must be proficient with all tools listed above.
- Must have proven ability to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
- Must know universal communications color codes.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
- Must be self‑motivated, positive, professional, and capable of helping create, develop, and implement project process improvements.
- Must promote company culture and mission with employees, vendors, clients, and partners.
- Must be able to act as a company liaison with customer representatives.
- Must possess strong problem‑solving abilities, critical‑thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and deliver oral presentations.
- Must be able to work at various heights on ladders and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to see and distinguish different colors and read small print.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Barker, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.
