Custodian

For 66 years, Little Sisters of the Assumption (LSA) Family Health Service, a community-based nonprofit, has supported thousands of low-income and immigrant families. LSA provides families with the most critical resources they need – food, clothing, healthcare, education, a safe home, and advocacy services. We believe by supporting and empowering families, our entire community will thrive.

LSA is seeking a Custodian with relevant experience. The Custodian shall be responsible for cleaning, maintaining and handling limited repairs on site in order to ensure the safety, cleanliness and functionality of the facilities. Our facilities include retail, kitchen, office, childcare, mental health facilities, and an outdoor play space, and sees many visitors each day. The Custodian’s role is invaluable in protecting the health and wellbeing of employees, visitors and patients alike while ensuring a welcoming environment for all.

This is a full-time role. Pay is commensurate with experience, skills and qualifications.

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, kitchen, classroom, pantry, office and reception areas.
• Sweep, mop and vacuum floors.
• Empty trash cans and recycling bins.
• Dust furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows and mirrors.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and facilities equipment.
• Maintains outdoor areas such as steps, accessibility ramps, and outdoor play/dining areas.
• Receiving, storing, and ensuring the safety of both shelf-stable food donations and prepared meals for students.
• Report any maintenance issues to the facilities manager.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, crawl, and climb ladders to reach tight spaces.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Has or is willing to obtain a NYC Food Handler's License.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License desired (preferred, but not required).
• English-Spanish Bilingual desired (preferred, but not required).
