The New York Milk Bank is dedicated to improving the health and survival of infants by providing pasteurized donor human milk when their mothers’ own milk is unavailable. We are seeking an energetic and motivated person to join our Operations department in the role of Dishwasher and Sanitation Associate. As part of our purpose-driven organization, this position plays a key role in helping to nourish premature and medically fragile babies so they can reach their full potential.
RoleThe Dishwasher and Sanitation Associate is a critical team member responsible for ensuring that lab tools and equipment are cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis.
Job TypeFull-time, 35 hours/week, 5 days a week on site position, no remote work. Ability to work a 7-hour shift of 9am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Future availability to work 40 hours/week and Saturday’s a plus.

Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)Daily Responsibilities:
- Washing and sanitizing lab tools and equipment per NYMB protocols - both handwashing as well as using the commercial dishwashers
- Follow NYMB cleaning protocols for wiping down surfaces and all carts used to transport equipment to and from the lab
- Stocking a clean cart with clean equipment to transfer back to lab
- Laundry (using washer and dryer) including folding and putting away
- Unpacking, traying and racking empty bottles for the lab
- Discarding milk (as assigned)
- Dishwasher Inspection and Temperature Verification (after training period)
Weekly Responsibilities
- Friday deep cleaning of the facility
Monthly Responsibilities
- Washing Machine cleaning
- Dishwasher Deliming
- Monthly Dishwasher Temperature Verification with strips
Other
- Support keeping NYMB offices, labs, facilities, and common areas clean
- Notify managers of necessary repairs
- Participate in weekly team meetings
- Take NYMB funded training courses as required
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience working in commercial kitchen
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Food Safety Training a plus
- Ability to manage time efficiently to complete daily requirements
- Work well unsupervised
- Ability to comply with established food safety and lab protocols with significant attention to detail
- Working knowledge of commercial dishwashers, washer/dryer, other appliances in use
- Able to learn new tasks and multi-step processes in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Act in a professional manner through reliability, integrity, and treating others with respect
Job Type: Full-time, 35 hours/week, 5 days a week,

Salary: $20/hour
