About Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds (HKC) — Home to 11 independently run JCC day camps, HKC manages and operates three facilities dedicated to summer day camping located in Long Island, Rockland County and Staten Island. As a member of the maintenance crew, you play an essential role in providing campers with a safe environment for an amazing summer experience. You will be trained to safely operate grounds keeping equipment, including mowers, leaf blowers, and weed whackers. When needed, you assist with minor electrical, carpentry, and plumbing work anytime our buildings require repair. While maintaining our grounds and facilities, you conduct a variety of janitorial tasks such as emptying garbage cans, cleaning, and restocking bathrooms.

You remove debris and ensure it is disposed of properly. Our campgrounds are kept in excellent condition under your watch, contributing to a positive summer experience for campers.

• Operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment (mowers, leaf blowers, weed whackers) safely
• Assist with minor electrical, carpentry, and plumbing repairs
• Perform janitorial tasks: empty trash, clean and restock bathrooms
• Remove debris and ensure proper disposal

• Ability to safely drive cars, light trucks, and other motorized vehicles
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of equipment up to 100 pounds as required
• Ability to work outdoors in the heat of summer and various weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license

Hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, or carpentry work is a plus. Are you able to accept guidance, direction, and supervision from others? Do you work well as part of a team? Pay is determined based on level of skills and experience and expected length of employment.

This seasonal position offers a full-time schedule of 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with some overtime hours in the days leading up to the start of camp. Once camp is in session you may be asked to work a later shift (e.g., 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM).
