Position

Lead Engineer — The Lead Engineer is a senior member of the Engineering team responsible not only for maintaining Casa Cipriani’s facilities to the highest standards of luxury, safety, and functionality, but also for providing day-to-day leadership and technical guidance to Engineers and maintenance staff.

This role serves as a working lead who supports departmental operations, oversees work quality, assists with task prioritization, and ensures timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance across hotel, club, banquet, and back-of-house areas. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly dependable, and capable of leading by example in a refined luxury hospitality environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Technical & Operational Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced maintenance and repair tasks on property systems, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring all areas remain fully operational and maintained to five-star standards.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform repairs on electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and safety systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections of building systems and equipment.
  • Perform carpentry, painting, wall repair, furniture repair, and installation work as needed.
  • Support banquet, club, and event operations with lighting, climate control, sound systems, and power requirements.
  • Assist licensed tradespeople and vendors during specialized repair work and projects.
  • Perform outdoor maintenance tasks as required (landscaping, sweeping, snow removal, etc.).
  • Ensure engineering work areas, storage rooms, and workshops remain organized, clean, and safe.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities using the property’s work order system (e.g., HotSOS).
  • Identify, escalate, and document major repair needs or capital replacement items.
Leadership & Oversight Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead point of contact for Engineers during assigned shifts in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
  • Help assign daily work orders and prioritize tasks based on operational needs and guest impact.
  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to Engineers and new team members on procedures, safety, and quality standards.
  • Monitor quality of work performed by team members and provide real-time coaching to ensure brand standards are met.
  • Support scheduling coordination and coverage needs as directed by the Director of Engineering.
  • Serve as a liaison between Engineering and other departments (Housekeeping, Front Office, Culinary, Banquets, Club) for maintenance-related matters.
  • Assist with inventory control of tools, parts, and supplies; report reorder needs.
  • Participate in departmental projects, system upgrades, and facility improvement initiatives.
Safety & Standards
  • Follow all safety, fire, and environmental procedures; ensure team adherence to safety standards.
  • Immediately report hazards, unsafe conditions, or compliance concerns.
  • Uphold Casa Cipriani’s standards of professionalism, discretion, and service excellence at all times.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in hotel, luxury residential, or commercial engineering/maintenance.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring team members preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and capacity to work independently on complex repairs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to interact professionally with guests, members, and colleagues.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • OSHA certification, EPA refrigerant handling certification, or other trade licenses preferred.
