EssentialFunctions
Reporting to the Grounds Manager, the Facility & Maintenance Associate is responsible for hands‑on care, maintenance, and upkeep of Shrub Oak International’s campus and facilities. This role ensures that the school’s facilities reflect the institution’s brand and standard of excellence.
The Facilities & Maintenance Associate is tasked with maintaining the campus and buildings in safe, clean, secure, and fully functional condition. The role involves proactive inspections, repairs, and regular upkeep to ensure that the property remains in top condition.
- Conduct regular maintenance inspections of facilities and perform necessary repairs and upkeep.
- Proactively identify and report on vendor performance, ensuring contractors meet their contractual obligations.
- Perform basic repairs in areas such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical equipment, HVAC, and fire extinguishers.
- Carry out light carpentry, painting, drywall work, flooring repairs, and minor electrical work (e.g., replacing switches, ballasts, bulbs, and fixtures).
- Clean and maintain interior spaces, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing.
- Accept deliveries, inspect the grounds, and address any facilities‑related issues as they arise.
- Collect and dispose of obsolete equipment and trash.
- Set up furniture and equipment for various school activities.
- Handle minor repairs and furniture assembly tasks as required.
- Create signs and nameplates as needed for the campus.
- Perform a variety of maintenance tasks related to ground care and preventive maintenance on the building and equipment.
- Replace lights, perform painting, and assist with assembling components.
- Maintain positive working relationships with building staff, vendors, landlords, and service providers.
- Operate the necessary equipment to complete tasks.
- Remain accountable for the appearance, functionality, and maintenance of assigned properties.
- Assist in setting up school events as necessary.
- Unpack shipments and organize deliveries.
- Work closely and collaboratively with staff, security, and administration to support the smooth operation of the school.
- Take on any additional responsibilities as required to meet the needs of the facility and school operations.

RequirementsExperience & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities and/or maintenance preferred.
- Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to understand and follow simple instructions and operate proactively and independently.
- Excellent organizational and follow‑up skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks as scheduled.
- Must be a self‑starter with the ability to adhere to procedures.
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Skills & Abilities
- Licensed plumber and/or electrician.
- Previous experience in a school or similar institutional setting.
- Familiarity with operating specialized maintenance equipment.
