En Route Cleaner - OBS Trainee

Overview

En Route Cleaners (ERC) maintain Amtrak trainsets while they move between station stops. The role demands strong attention to detail, fast pace, and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Able to follow all Amtrak policies, standards, and procedures.
• Physically able to carry supplies, bend, reach, and perform basic cleaning tasks.
• Report supply shortages and maintenance issues to the appropriate supervisor or conductor.
• Stock and manage personal cleaning kit on a daily basis.
• Make announcements as specified by supervisor.
• Work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Primary cleaning areas:
• Bathrooms: use cleaning products, empty waste bins, remove debris, sweep, mop, replenish consumables (soap, toilet paper, hand towels, deodorizer disks), clean toilets, basins, and sinks.
• Rest of the car: empty waste bins, remove trash from floor or seat backs, wipe and dry spilled liquids on seats, mop wet area if vestibule is wet from snow or rain.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Familiar with commercial and residential cleaning products and supplies.
• Knowledge of cleaning standards and procedures.
• Some direct customer service experience.
• Preferred:
  Knowledge of the Cleaning Industry Management Standards and Green Seal Cleaning Standards.

• Hourly range: $21.00 – $21.00 (opportunity for increases per collective bargaining agreement).
