Equipment Maintenance Assistant/Yard Associate

In this role, you’ll help maintain our equipment fleet, assist technicians with repairs, and support day-to-day operations in our lumberyard. This position plays a key part in ensuring our tools, vehicles, and machinery are safe, reliable, and ready to keep our business running efficiently.
Responsibilities- Inspect, clean, and lubricate equipment
- Assist in inspecting machinery and equipment for faults and malfunctions
- Help repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components
- Assist with ordering spare parts and equipment as needed
- Keep detailed records of maintenance work performed
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff to manage repairs efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly shop and lumberyard environment
- Perform housekeeping and organization tasks as needed
- Assist in taking regular inventory of stock
- Load and unload customer vehicles; verify invoices for accuracy
- Assist yard staff with loading/unloading trucks and daily yard upkeep
- Maintain and straighten lumber stacks regularly
- Adhere to all company policies and safety standards
- Drive local delivery routes as assigned
- Valid driver’s license
- Proven experience or education as an Equipment Maintenance Assistant or similar role
- Familiarity with construction machinery and equipment
- Understanding of basic mechanical systems and maintenance principles
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery safely
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification a plus
