Position:
Legal Assistant/Litigation Support Assistant
Early to Mid Career Level
A sophisticated legal practice is seeking a Litigation Support Assistant to provide high-level administrative and substantive support to attorneys handling complex civil litigation matters. This role supports counsel throughout all phases of litigation, requiring a strong working knowledge of procedural rules, legal documentation, and case management practices.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive litigation support from case intake and pre-suit investigation through discovery, dispositive motion practice, trial preparation, and post-judgment proceedings
- Draft, format, and revise litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, affidavits, notices, and professional correspondence
- Assist with e-filing submissions in state and federal courts and ensure compliance with applicable court rules, local rules, and filing deadlines
- Organize, review, and manage voluminous records, including discovery productions, exhibits, and case support materials
- Maintain electronic and physical case files in accordance with firm protocols and document retention policies
- Track statutory deadlines, court-ordered schedules, and discovery cutoffs; assist in maintaining litigation calendars and docket control systems
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, court clerks, court reporters, opposing counsel, vendors, and other third parties
- Schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and attorney meetings, including preparation of notices and logistical coordination
- Support trial preparation efforts, including exhibit management, witness files, and trial binders
- Perform administrative and clerical functions such as document processing, data entry, proofreading, cite-checking, and file management
- Prior experience in a litigation support role within a law firm or legal department
- Familiarity with civil litigation procedures, legal terminology, and court practices
- Strong drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills with close attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple matters concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and litigation support tools, including e-discovery and document management platforms
