Overview
A well-established law firm is seeking a Trust & Estates Paralegal to support a busy private wealth practice. This role partners closely with attorneys, trustees, and external advisors to manage trust and estate administration, tax-related filings, and fiduciary compliance. The position offers meaningful responsibility, direct attorney interaction, and exposure to sophisticated trust and estate matters.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister trust and estate accounts, including bookkeeping, distributions, and record-keeping
Prepare and review annual trust account statements and related financial reports
Assist with estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax filings
, including coordination with accountants and advisorsManage probate and surrogate's court filings and related submissions
Compile documentation for gifts to trusts and beneficiary distributions
Draft trust agreements and related estate planning documents
Monitor investment statements and analyze monthly trust activity
Create and manage budgets forecasting trust income, expenses, and distributions
Process trust-related payments, including checks and authorization letters
Support trustee and executor compliance with fiduciary obligations
Maintain regular communication with trustees, grantors, beneficiaries, and advisors
Provide general administrative and paralegal support to the Trust & Estates practice
3+ years of experience in Trust & Estates, Private Wealth, or fiduciary administration
Experience with trust accounting, distributions, and financial reporting
Exposure to estate and gift tax matters and fiduciary income tax filings
Familiarity with probate and trust-related court filings
Proficiency with Excel and accounting or trust administration software
Experience with
Ultra Tax or similar tax software is a plusStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small, close-knit team
Billable requirement: approximately 1,500 hours annually
Schedule: hybrid; 4 days in-office
Environment: small local team with support from a broader national practice
Compensation: competitive, commensurate with experience
