Location: New York

Supervisory Attorney – Assigned Counsel Plan (ACP)

Location: New York City, New York

Salary: $72,038 – $175,000

Responsibilities
  • Oversee ACP attorneys representing clients charged with misdemeanor, felony, and homicide offenses in the Criminal and Supreme Courts.
  • Monitor and maintain a high standard of representation and client services.
  • Evaluate ACP attorney needs and identify necessary resources.
  • Foster teamwork and communication, mentor and train staff, provide technical assistance to panel attorneys.
  • Assist with database management and monitor case activity to ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Attend citywide and statewide coalition meetings, represent ACP at community, government, and professional association meetings.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with state and city agencies and community stakeholders.
  • Oversee recertification programs and respond to client, community, and staff concerns.
  • Develop staff trainings across a variety of skill and practice areas.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints filed against panel attorneys.
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to city officials and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Admission to the New York State Bar and four years of recent full‑time responsible legal experience after admission to any bar.
  • At least eighteen months of experience supervising other attorneys in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity.
  • Experience in advanced legal work applicable to criminal and civil matters.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Preferable supervisory and management experience.
Required Experience

Continued membership in good standing of the New York State Bar for the duration of employment.
