Must have a minimum of 3+ years of experience as a paralegal and must have real estate experience
The Opportunity:Join a thriving, high-growth Real Estate Practice Group in the heart of New York City. We are seeking a detail-oriented, high-energy Paralegal to support our attorneys in executing complex, high-stakes real estate transactions. This is a role for a proactive professional who thrives on the "closing high" and wants to own the lifecycle of a deal—from due diligence to the final closing binder.
TheWork:
High-Complexity Transactions
- Transactional Support: Assist in the execution of mortgage and mezzanine financings, high-value acquisitions, and dispositions.
- Due Diligence & Research: Lead the charge on title, zoning, and survey research. You will manage and coordinate the entire title/survey review process.
- Closing Mastery: Act as the central hub for real estate closings. This includes preparing signature page packets, managing distribution, and resolving all post-closing matters with precision.
- Document Management: Under attorney supervision, assist with the drafting and organization of legal documents and the creation of comprehensive closing binders.
- Information Governance: Maintain elite standards for client file maintenance, ensuring both electronic (EMF) and hardcopy records are barcoded, labeled, and archived per firm policy.
Expertise & Professionalism
- Experience: 3+ years of paralegal experience specifically within a Real Estate practice. Experience coordinating the work of case clerks or junior paralegals is a major plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office and specialized legal research databases. You should be comfortable pulling and analyzing documents from online resources independently.
- Billable Mindset: A clear understanding of the billable hour model, with a commitment to maintaining accurate, daily time logs and meeting firm revenue expectations.
- The "NYC Edge": The ability to work efficiently under pressure, adapt to changing deal conditions on short notice, and maintain a professional, diplomatic image when communicating with clients and vendors.
- High School diploma required;
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. - Paralegal certificate or NALA certification is a significant advantage.
- Intermediate knowledge of Federal, State, and Local real estate rules.
- Flexibility: Availability for overtime or travel on short notice to meet closing deadlines.
