Associate Attorney / Growing litigation defense firm

Our client, a successful litigation defense firm, is hiring for a motivated Associate Attorney! Responsibilities include handling a caseload from inception through trial involving substantial litigation defense and may include a variety of practice areas such as nursing home negligence, medical/dental malpractice and general liability.

• Draft, prepare and handle pleadings, motions, orders and legal memoranda
• Draft and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions
• Conduct legal research competently and with proficiency
• Conduct fact witness meetings
• Prepare and take depositions of parties
• Attend court conferences and orally argue motions
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations and status reports
• Assist with and participate in mediations
• Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues and staff
• Proactively work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrate strong legal research and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills
• Knowledge of state court procedures

• JD from an ABA accredited law school
• Admitted to practice in the state of New York (New Jersey a plus)
• 2-6+ years of litigation defense experience
