Overview
A large law firm in NYC is seeking a Litigation Operations Manager to lead its procedural office and support a comprehensive Litigation practice. This role provides expert guidance to attorneys on court rules, filing strategies, and procedural issues across federal and local courts. The Litigation Operations Manager ensures the precision of all court operations, including calendaring and electronic filings, while overseeing a team of professionals.
Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of the department, including staff management, workflow distribution, and quality assurance.
- Lead the execution of complex e‑filings in federal and state systems, ensuring all submissions meet jurisdictional requirements.
- Manage the firm’s docketing and calendaring systems to track critical deadlines and maintain case records.
- Coordinate with external vendors for service of process, appellate printing, and court runs.
- Review legal documents for procedural compliance and proper formatting before submission.
- Conduct research on court rules and monitor judicial updates to advise legal teams on filing strategy and risk mitigation.
- Act as a liaison between the firm and various court personnel to resolve filing issues or clarify procedural nuances.
- Supervise the attorney admission and registration process, including the management of electronic filing accounts.
- Work with internal departments to improve docketing technology and implement standardized procedural checklists.
- Provide support for urgent and late‑night filings to accommodate various jurisdictional deadlines, including those in different time zones.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity.
- Expert‑level understanding of New York and federal court procedures and filing protocols.
- Proficiency with major electronic filing platforms and docketing software systems.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and exercise sound judgment in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in proofreading and data entry.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, and court clerks.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management applications.
