About the RoleWe are seeking a seasoned and strategic Partnership and Product Counsel to join our growing legal team. This person will serve as a key legal partner for our product and marketing teams, providing expert guidance on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters. You will be instrumental in shaping compliant, high-performance programs for our consumer lending products, including direct mail campaigns.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, business-minded lawyer who is comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level, providing clear, actionable advice to both executives and hands-on teams. This person is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of Pagaya’s core business and a solid working knowledge of financing principles, particularly in the negotiation and drafting of legal agreements necessary to formalize partnership arrangements and to facilitate the sale and servicing of loans and other financial assets.
We are seeking an intelligent, motivated, self-starter with excellent judgment to join our growing legal team in a rapidly expanding company. The ideal candidate is a business-minded lawyer focused on execution and prepared to take a lead role in collaborating with our Business, Technology, Capital Markets, and other teams and stakeholders, including Risk and Compliance. Success in the role requires someone who is proactive, collaborative, and comfortable providing both high-level strategic support and detailed legal advice.

The role reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer and will be located in New York.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary legal advisor for product development, marketing initiatives, and new features, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations in the fintech and consumer credit space.
- Act as a strategic partner to our business team in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements related to the acquisition and servicing of various asset classes.
- Build, analyze, and structure complex partnerships.
- Advise on all aspects of marketing and advertising, with deep expertise in digital and direct mail campaigns, to mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk, Product, and Partnerships teams to shape and execute compliant, high-performance programs.
- Stay informed about regulatory changes affecting consumer lending and credit products to proactively identify and address legal risks.
- Provide clear, actionable legal advice to a variety of stakeholders, balancing legal risk with business objectives.
- A qualified attorney in the United States (preferably NY).
- 6+ years of experience in a US law firm and/or in-house, although the right candidate could have significantly more experience.
- Excellent contract drafting skills and the ability to negotiate and advise on complex transactions with minimal support from external counsel.
- Familiarity with US consumer credit/lending legal and regulatory regimes, including FCRA, GLBA, TILA, etc.
- Excellent judgment and initiative in developing creative, practical, and effective solutions, using a business-first approach.
- Deep expertise in direct mail marketing, including list selection, testing, regulatory nuances, and campaign execution.
- Significant experience working cross-functionally with Risk, Product, and Growth teams.
- Strong analytical acumen, with the ability to monitor performance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Assertive, results-driven, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
