Linguist III

We are currently looking for a Linguist II to join a leading AI research team working on multilingual AI models. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong academic background in Linguistics and experience working with language data, NLP, and Python.

• Perform linguistic analysis on large multilingual datasets
• Conduct error analysis of AI/ML model outputs and identify patterns in translation errors
• Write and maintain annotation guidelines for language and translation tasks
• Conduct linguistic research across multiple languages, including typo logical and sociolinguistic analysis
• Support Responsible AI initiatives by analyzing toxic language, hate speech, bias, and cultural nuances
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and native speakers to improve language model performance
• Compare vendor deliverables, identify error patterns, and provide actionable feedback

• Graduate degree in Linguistics or a related field (PhD is a plus)
• Native speaker of a non-English language (preferably Hindi)
• High proficiency in another Indo-Aryan or South Dravidian language
• Strong understanding of language typology, syntax, morphology, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and phonology
• Experience with Python and SQL for data analysis
• Experience performing linguistic error analysis of machine translation outputs
• Ability to collaborate with NLP researchers, engineers, and data scientists

• Experience with corpus linguistics or linguistic fieldwork
• Experience with NLP techniques
• Experience creating or maintaining lexical resources (e.g., profanity dictionaries)
• Experience contributing to academic research papers
