SCA Analytic Linguist; Spanish Security Clearance

SOSi is seeking Spanish Linguists in New York City, NY to support our federal law enforcement customer. The Spanish Linguist will provide operational support in live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation duties as assigned by the PMO. The role involves flexibly working shift schedules, including nights and weekends, as required by investigations.

• Monitor live communication and use lawful intercepts to provide immediate verbal summaries and subsequent written or typed summaries into English.
• Transcribe audio/video and written communications from Spanish to English.
• Interpret consecutively or simultaneously from Spanish to English.
• Validate others’ translations, transcriptions, or quality control reviews to confirm accuracy.
• Summarize intercepted communication with concise and accurate oral or written synopsis.
• Provide reliable, accurate summaries to law‑enforcement officers.
• Attend federal and state legal briefings (Title III minimization) before initiating new investigations.
• Assist officers in preparing evidence and investigation summaries for potential federal or state trials.
• Serve as a “fact” witness in court when subpoenaed.
• Maintain regular communication with the program manager regarding available hours, days, and shifts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the customer or Program Manager.

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident with legal work status; only U.S. citizens will have access to classified documents.
• Minimum one (1) year of translation experience in Spanish.
• Demonstrated proficiency in English and Spanish via recent testing (no more than five years prior). Certification in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Spanish and English is required or attainable.
• Familiarity with intercept systems such as JSI Voice Box or Pen‑Link Lincoln is a plus.
• Strong oral communication skills with law‑enforcement officials.
• Ability to translate slang and colloquial expressions while preserving meaning and context.
• Native fluency in Spanish.
• Excellent command of English for clear written translations, transcriptions, and summaries.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
• Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
• Familiarity with media storage (cassettes, videos, digital media).
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

• Experience as a linguist supporting defense, intelligence, or law enforcement agencies.
• Federal law‑enforcement clearance.
