Senior Consultant – P&C Underwriting / Sales & Distribution at Selby Jennings

As part of the Middle Market Casualty team, you’ll help shape the future of insurance for mid‑sized businesses across three key sectors:
Construction, Hospitality, and Residential Real Estate. This role focuses on managing and growing a profitable book of excess casualty business through strong underwriting, relationship management, and collaboration. Success requires a team‑oriented mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.

This role will be hybrid and can sit in Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Atlanta, GA, or Scottsdale, AZ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new and renewal excess casualty accounts in line with company guidelines and authority.
  • Evaluate risk, pricing, and coverage to ensure profitability and portfolio growth.
  • Maintain high underwriting standards and clear communication with partners.
  • Build a diverse, renewal‑focused book of business.
Technical Excellence
  • Apply precise, data‑driven underwriting decisions aligned with proprietary rate plans and guidelines.
Distribution & Service
  • Ensure underwriting rigor while maintaining efficiency and ease of doing business for our partners.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in E&S casualty underwriting or related insurance roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of energy and accountability.
