Job Overview
Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to support technology, infrastructure, and clinical expansion initiatives across its Long Island facilities. This role plays a critical part in translating construction-driven project inputs into fully developed IT scopes of work that are clearly defined, in scope, within budget, and supported by formal documentation.
This position is designed for a project manager with a strong technical foundation who has hands-on experience developing IT project scope, defining requirements, and determining what is needed to support new clinical spaces and infrastructure projects. The client is specifically looking for someone who does not simply take direction or execute predefined tasks, but instead partners with construction and clinical stakeholders to shape the IT scope, delivery approach, and budget alignment.
The Project Manager will work closely with construction teams, IT engineering groups, clinical leadership, and external vendors to ensure technology solutions are properly scoped, documented, and delivered in alignment with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
IT Scope & Budget Development
- Receive project scope inputs from construction and facilities teams and develop the complete IT scope of work for each initiative.
- Translate construction plans and clinical requirements into clear, actionable IT deliverables.
- Define infrastructure, systems, and technology needs for new builds, renovations, and departmental expansions.
- Ensure all IT work is in scope, aligned to approved budgets, and supported by detailed documentation.
- Identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and assumptions early to prevent downstream issues.
- Lead and manage multiple concurrent IT and infrastructure projects across Long Island facilities.
- Support clinical build-outs, including new department openings, renovations, and technology deployments.
- Conduct onsite site surveys to assess existing infrastructure, readiness, and constraints.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and status reporting.
- Track milestones, risks, and issues through project completion.
- Partner with technical teams to support implementations involving:
- Networking and telecommunications (TCOM)
- Desktop and end-user device deployments
- SCCM-based provisioning and configuration
- Structured cabling and IT infrastructure
- Coordinate internal IT teams and external vendors to ensure timely, compliant delivery.
- Produce clear project documentation, status updates, and dashboards using Microsoft tools and Power BI.
- Communicate effectively with clinicians, IT teams, construction partners, vendors, and leadership.
- Ensure projects adhere to organizational standards, compliance requirements, and operational best practices.
- Provide onsite project support at the primary hospital location and other Long Island sites as required.
- Be present during key phases such as site assessments, installations, cutovers, and go-lives.
- Demonstrated experience developing IT project scope of work based on construction or facilities-driven initiatives.
- Experience in one or more of the following technical areas:
- Telecommunications (TCOM)
- Networking
- Desktop / End-User Support
- Cabling / IT Infrastructure
- Experience working in healthcare, clinical, or regulated environments strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Experience with Power BI or other reporting and visualization tools.
- Proven ability to perform site surveys and produce thorough technical documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work onsite at least 3 days per week and travel across Long Island as needed
You are a technically grounded project manager who understands how IT supports clinical environments and physical build-outs. You are comfortable reviewing construction plans, walking sites, asking the right questions, and defining what technology is actually required - not simply reacting to requests.
You bring a clear process for developing IT scope, managing budgets, documenting requirements, and delivering projects that directly support patient care and operational success.
