Description

Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner for Technology, the MITS1 G-27 will fill a significant skills gap in the Gaming and Public Integrity dedicated team, which supports seven NYS Executive agencies and a large portfolio of applications. The position requires a unique mix of technical and management experience. Core duties are listed on the Additional Information page below.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the Gaming and Public Integrity (GPI) dedicated team Enterprise Architect, Data Architect, Change Management and Dev Ops Teams to ensure the GPI dedicated team follows best practices for technical infrastructure changes and that GPI products/applications and their associated enhancements are built, tested and released quickly and reliably.
  • Establish a team and processes and procedures for testing and Quality Assurance related to application development and enhancements for all GPI applications. This includes application lifecycle management, user acceptance testing, functional testing, performance load testing, defect management and regression testing.
  • Facilitate collaboration across GPI teams including Business Solutions, Dev Ops, Architects, Change Managers and Client Engagement.
  • Implement and develop a GPI dedicated team SharePoint site.
  • Lead the Change Management team that acts as primary point of contact for infrastructure changes, determines business and technical impact of changes and communicates changes both internally and to external agency stakeholders.
  • Manage the Dev Ops team that configures, installs and manages Windows servers for GPI custom built and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) applications.
  • Work closely with Business Solutions to ensure applications and enhancements meet required standards before release.
  • Create technical documents and implement QA and release management processes and procedures to guarantee consistent, successful product and enhancement deployments.
  • Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of permanent service as an Information Technology Specialist 4;
Information Technology Specialist 4 (Operations);
Information Technology Specialist 4 (Systems Programming);
Information Technology Specialist 4 (Data Communications);
Information Technology Specialist 4 (Database);
Information Technology Specialist 3;
Information Technology Specialist 3;
Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming);
Information Technology Specialist 3 (Systems Programming);
Information Technology Specialist 3 (Data Communications);
Information Technology Specialist 3 (Database); or Chief Computer Operator.

Additional Comments

ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence.

Some positions may require fingerprinting.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
