Compensation: $50 per hour

Role Overview

Next Gen Coding Company is hiring a Senior Architect / Technical Lead to own technical quality, scoping accuracy, and delivery oversight across multiple active client projects.

This role is primarily architectural and leadership-focused, not junior development.

You will:

• Review all pull requests
• Architect systems
• Scope projects in hours
• Speak directly with clients
• Manage delivery across multiple projects
• Enforce engineering standards

Objective is to professionalize delivery and reduce founder involvement in technical oversight.

Core Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define system architecture for new projects
• Ensure scalability, security, and maintainability
• Make stack decisions aligned with company standards
• Guide engineers through implementation
• Step in hands-on for complex components when required

2. PR Reviews & Code Quality

• Review all PRs before merge
• Enforce coding standards
• Prevent architectural drift
• Ensure test coverage discipline
• Reduce production bugs

No production deployment without review.

3. Scoping & Hour Estimation

• Lead technical discovery calls
• Break requirements into structured feature lists
• Assign realistic hour estimates
• Identify risks and dependencies
• Protect margin through disciplined estimation

Clear scoping before build begins.

4. Client Communication & Expectation Management

• Lead technical calls with clients
• Translate business needs into engineering tasks
• Set realistic delivery timelines
• Manage scope changes professionally
• Provide structured delivery updates

Must be confident speaking with founders, COOs, and technical stakeholders.

5. Multi-Project Oversight

• Manage 3–6 concurrent projects
• Structure Jira boards and sprint cycles
• Monitor velocity and deadlines
• Coordinate QA and final delivery documentation

Required Experience

• 7+ years software engineering experience
• 2–4 years in senior / lead role
• Experience architecting production systems
• Strong PR review experience
• Experience scoping projects in hours
• Client-facing experience required
• Strong AWS / cloud experience

Preferred stack familiarity:

• Python
• Node.js
• React / Next.js
• AWS
• API integrations
• CI/CD
