Responsibilities
Working closely with eDiscovery counsel, eDiscovery specialists, attorneys, paralegals, IT and clients, the person in this role provides strategic guidance, hands‑on project leadership, and training across litigation technology platforms, AI tools, document review systems and advanced predictive coding technologies, case management tools, trial technology, and emerging legal‑tech applications. This position is designed for a professional who is equally comfortable leading complex eDiscovery matters and building innovative workflows that enhance attorney and staff productivity across the Firm.
LitigationTechnology & Practice Support
- Serve as a primary resource for practice‑wide technology support, including litigation applications, AI‑enhanced innovation and workflows, and process optimization.
- Assist case teams and Firm staff with various needs related to practice applications and litigation cases, including but not limited to eDiscovery, Excel, and Copilot support.
- Collaborate with practice groups to identify opportunities to apply new or existing technologies; conduct research on emerging tools and recommend adoption where appropriate.
- Lead complex eDiscovery, litigation support, and case management projects amongst several practice offices with a consultative approach, ensuring strategic planning, defined workflows, and quality control; work directly with the Director of Litigation Technology to identify and provide technical solutions to the legal staff.
- Manage all technical discovery and trial aspects of individual cases as assigned, serving as a liaison between vendors and case teams and clients to facilitate the application of Firm best practices and timely, efficient, and defensible completion of projects.
- Participate in and/or conduct project meetings with case teams (consisting of attorneys, paralegals, clients, and vendors) to ascertain project requirements, provide options, and recommend solutions; work to define project scope, delivery timing, and budgeting support; prepare meeting summaries, vendor instructions, status reports, training materials, and other associated documentation as necessary for the successful completion of a project.
- Provide data management services such as processing/loading data into database applications, loading images into image viewing applications, creating deliverable media, building production sets, and maintaining databases.
- Work closely with case teams and clients to coordinate the preservation, collection, processing, review, and production of case‑related ESI; must be ready to implement the most appropriate Electronic Discovery processing solution while adapting to the nuances of the ESI, the client, the budget, and the project's demands.
- Manage vendors to ensure high‑quality data deliverables and services are provided within negotiated schedules and budgets; review deliverables before shipment to confirm that they meet the specifications; and works with the Director of Litigation Technology to negotiate pricing with vendors.
- Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of practice technology applications, including but not limited to the back‑end support of Nuix, Syllo, Case Map, Text Map, Time Map, and Trial Director; prepare functional and technical specifications for client/server‑based practice support applications; and solve litigation‑support‑related user problems routed from the Help Desk.
- Provide ongoing user support via telephone, online, and/or office visits.
- Develop technical documentation and workflow playbooks for the practice technology teams as well as for the users, including best practices, data tracking, and quality‑control procedures.
- Responsible for direct/indirect communications with case teams/clients regarding ongoing project status, overall progress towards completion, budget oversight regarding electronic data discovery/document review, and recommendations when project adjustment/deviation is necessary.
- Maintain expert‑level knowledge of the Firm's standard litigation‑support application suites and related best practices, including attending industry‑focused CLE courses.
- Prepare departmental statistical reports.
- Participate in long‑range planning and needs assessment for paralegal and practice support staffing in the office.
- Adhere to Firm policies, practices, and priorities.
