Forward Deployed Engineer

We’re partnering with a high-growth, VC-backed startup that’s scaling fast and hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to sit directly between customers, product, and engineering.

It’s a high-ownership, in-the-trenches role for someone who enjoys messy data, applied AI, imperfect inputs, and building real solutions alongside customers.

You’ll work directly with customers to help them integrate and deploy a technically sophisticated product, while feeding real-world insight back into the core product team.

Day-to-day, that means:

• Digging into complex datasets, APIs, and real customer environments
• Writing or adapting scripts to unblock technical problems quickly
• Helping shape implementation approaches where no clean playbook exists
• Acting as a technical translator between business users and engineers
• Operating close to the product and influencing how it evolves

You’ll be expected to think like an engineer, communicate like a consultant, and move like a founder.

• 2–5 years’ experience in software engineering, with exposure to customer-facing work
• Background in a fast-moving, VC-backed startup environment is desirable
• Able to reason about data using tools like SQL or spreadsheet-style analysis
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React) is a plus
• Computer Science background preferred

• Experience as a former founder or early employee
• A Forward Deployed, Solutions, or Implementation Engineering background
• A track record of operating effectively without rigid processes
• Strong instincts for shipping pragmatic solutions under pressure

• You take ownership naturally and don’t wait to be told what to do
• You’re comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete information
• You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You enjoy problem-solving where the answer isn’t obvious
• 5 days a week in-office in NYC (non-negotiable)
• Relocation needs to be straightforward and fast
