Cobalt is working with a well-respected commercial real estate business in New York City to recruit a Data Engineer
. This role is central to the firm’s data and analytics capability, supporting investment decision-making, portfolio performance, and the delivery of data-driven insights across the organisation.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative technology team and play a key role in building and maintaining scalable, reliable data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines
- Develop and manage cloud-based data platforms and warehouses
- Collaborate with analytics, data science, and product teams to deliver high-quality data solutions
- Implement and maintain data models to support reporting and advanced analytics
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across systems
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production data environments
- Document data architecture, pipelines, and engineering best practices
- Cloud platforms (primarily AWS; experience with GCP also considered)
- SQL-based data warehouses (e.g. Redshift, Big Query)
- Orchestration and transformation tools (Airflow, dbt, or similar)
- Python and SQL
- Version control and CI/CD workflows
- 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering role
- Strong SQL skills and experience building production-grade data pipelines
- Hands-on experience with cloud data infrastructure
- Solid understanding of data modelling and warehouse design
- Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
