JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Senior Staff Broadcast Network Engineer to join our Broadcast IP Infrastructure team in New York. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and support of high-performance, reliable, and scalable IP networks that enable live broadcast and media production environments.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in media-over-IP workflows (SMPTE ST 2110, network synchronization (PTP), and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions. You will collaborate with broadcast engineering, IT, and operation teams to ensure reliable and scalable infrastructure for real-time media workflows, powering real-time video, audio, and data transport for live contents.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES- Design, deploy, and maintain IP-based broadcast networks supporting uncompressed media transport and real-time workflows.
- Collaborate with the SDN and Infrastructure teams to develop deterministic, low-latency, and resilient network solutions for live production.
- Evaluate and optimize current network architecture for scalability, performance, and timing accuracy.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex media and IP transport issues across multiple facilities.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to integrate new media networking and orchestration technologies.
- Implement and manage network automation and configuration management tools, including Ansible and Arista Cloud Vision (Arista Validated Design).
- Perform capacity planning, multicast management, and QoS optimization for real-time media applications.
- Maintain system resilience and uptime through proactive monitoring, failover validation, and firmware lifecycle management.
- Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration details, and change control records.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to operations staff.
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing and supporting large-scale, mission-critical IP networks.
- Strong understanding of broadcast and media transport over IP environments.
- Hands‑on experience with Arista switching platforms and modern data center network architectures.
- Deep knowledge of multicast routing, QoS, and synchronization technologies (e.g., PTP).
- Proficiency in automation and orchestration frameworks such as Ansible and Python.
- Experience with spine‑leaf architectures, SDN, and VXLAN/EVPN-based designs.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience using tools such as Wireshark.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in live production environments.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and share technical expertise across teams.
