Data Science Expert | Scientific R&D | PhD-Level, NYC | Hybrid, 3 days a week on site. Salary: OPEN – Highly paid salary for Outliers in this field. We’re seeking an advanced technical contributor with a Ph.D. and a strong foundation in life sciences to join a high-caliber, interdisciplinary R&D team working at the forefront of computational drug discovery.
Role
Summary:
In this position, you’ll collaborate directly with a world-class machine learning and scientific computing group to drive a data-first strategy in therapeutic innovation. Your focus will be on the design, acquisition, curation, and in-depth analysis of complex scientific datasets – primarily biological and chemical – to accelerate discovery pipelines through data insights and predictive modeling.
Ideal Background:
- Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, computational biology, or a related discipline
- Proven wet lab experience with a solid grasp of assay development and experimental design
- Strong understanding of drug discovery workflows, including early-stage R&D
- Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments; scripting proficiency in Python or similar languages
- Industry experience in pharma/biotech is a strong advantage
- Curate and optimize structured/unstructured datasets for use in AI/ML pipelines
- Collaborate with ML engineers and domain scientists to align data assets with predictive models
- Implement scalable data solutions to support large-scale simulations and molecular modeling efforts
- Contribute scientific insight to inform data-driven decision-making in therapeutic development
- High-performance computing systems tailored for molecular dynamics and large-scale simulation
- Application of machine learning and computational chemistry techniques in real-world R&D
- Collaborative ecosystem that blends deep science with cutting-edge engineering
