Data Engineering Lead – NYC (Hybrid)

Salary:$200,000 - $260,000

Location:New York City (Hybrid: 3-4 days per week in office)

About the Role:

We are seeking aData Engineering Leadto drive the ongoing development and enhancement of a mission-critical data platform for a leading financial institution. This position blends hands-on engineering and strategic leadership, ideal for individuals with a strong background in financial services or consulting. You will collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative data solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership:Balance hands-on engineering (50%) with strategic leadership (50%) to guide the success of projects and teams.
• Platform Development:Expand and refine a robust data platform built with Java, AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Redshift.
• Data Integration:Onboard new data sources and create features to meet evolving business needs.
• Stakeholder Collaboration:Partner with Product Owners, Engineers, Dev Ops, and QA teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

• Proficiency in Java, AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Redshift.
• Strong understanding of data engineering and architecture.

Leadership Skills:

• Technology-focused and strategic, with a proven ability to lead projects and initiatives.
• Skilled in collaborating with various teams and liaising with end clients to ensure project success.
• Open to managing cross-functional interactions rather than purely people management.

Industry Experience:

• Ideally, a background in financial services or consulting, with exposure to the unique demands of these sectors.

Adaptability:

• Comfortable with fluid, evolving requirements and project landscapes.
• Skilled in engaging with stakeholders to refine and clarify business needs.
• Hybrid Collaboration:Must be able to work onsite in NYC 3-4 days per week to facilitate close collaboration with stakeholders.
