Senior ServiceNow Developer

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Service Now Developer (Contract) to lead the enhancement and modernization of an existing intake and review workflow into a next-generation, streamlined solution. The ideal candidate will bring deep Service Now platform expertise, strong development experience across multiple application scopes, and the ability to independently analyze complex requirements and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions. This role focuses on redesigning and extending a mixed implementation that currently spans ITSM configurations, legacy Workflow Editor logic, and custom components within the Security Operations (Sec Ops) app scope.

You will collaborate with internal SMEs and Service Now engineers while operating autonomously and driving technical execution end to end.

• Lead the modernization and enhancement of existing intake and review workflows, redesigning legacy structures into scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly solutions
• Build dynamic, rules-driven form logic and risk-based decisioning using table-driven and maintainable configurations
• Develop and optimize secure REST API integrations, including data modeling and field mapping
• Redesign and streamline multi-team review workflows into a simplified, consolidated review experience using modern Service Now capabilities
• Enhance user experiences across Service Portal and Workspace / Next Experience, ensuring intuitive submission and review flows
• Produce clear technical documentation and follow Service Now platform governance best practices
• Collaborate effectively with internal development teams and stakeholders

Rate Range
: $65-75/hr on W2

• 5+ years of hands-on Service Now development experience with complex customizations
• Strong proficiency in:
  • JavaScript (server-side and client-side)
  • Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts
  • Flow Designer and Workflow Editor
  • Scoped Application Development
  • REST integrations and authentication (OAuth2, JWT)
  • UI Builder and Workspace / Next Experience
  • Service Portal development (Widgets, Angular
    
    JS, portal configuration)
• Experience working across multiple application scopes, including ITSM, Sec Ops, and custom applications
• Deep understanding of data modeling, table structures, and Service Now platform architecture
• Ability to design admin-friendly, maintainable logic (lookup tables, dynamic rules, modular flow components)

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to reverse-engineer legacy implementations
• Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Highly organized, proactive, and reliable, with early identification of risks and challenges

• Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA)
• Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD)
• ITSM and/or Sec Ops module certifications
• Experience modernizing legacy Service Now implementations
• Prior experience building rule-based engines or dynamic decisioning workflows
• Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments
