Chief Technology Officer

Overview

Surety Bind is an innovative industry-owned start-up focused on transforming the surety industry through technology-driven solutions. Our products are designed to streamline data transmission and digital bond execution. As we embark on creating a centralized data transmission hub and digital bond execution platforms, we are seeking a Chief Technology Officer to architect and build these solutions with the ability to scale and support the entire surety industry.

Position Overview:

The Chief Technology Officer will establish Surety Bind’s technical vision and will lead all aspects of Surety Bind’s technical development to effectively deliver products and services to Surety Bind’s customers. The Chief Technology Officer must understand the application of new and emerging technologies. This person should be an industry veteran with familiarity with surety systems and associated challenges. The Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for Surety Bind’s technology architecture, infrastructure, development, and security.

This role requires someone goal-oriented with a track record of success, comfortable working in a startup environment, accomplished at building and leading highly proficient teams, and capable of delivering software on time and on budget.

• Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with Surety Bind’s business objectives
• Architect scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions for Surety Bind products.
• Implement a hub-and-spoke architecture to facilitate seamless data transmission between stakeholders
• Build and lead a high-performing technology team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Collaborate with the Surety Bind Leader and other executives to align technology initiatives and software with business strategies
• Oversee vendor relationships and ensure effective technology partnerships

• Lead the design and development of APIs and other technical components to enable efficient data sharing and integration with key industry stakeholders including large sureties and brokers.
• Ensure that Surety Bind products can be implemented efficiently, integrate with legacy systems as required, and minimize switching costs.
• Incorporate agile methodologies for iterative product development and enhancements

• Develop and enforce robust security protocols to ensure data integrity and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
• Oversee regular security reviews and audits, including third-party penetration testing
• Evaluate and implement audits and standards such as SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001.

• Engage with sureties, brokers, and industry organizations to ensure technology solutions meet stakeholder needs
• Act as an evangelist for Surety Bind’s technology and solutions to internal and external stakeholders
