Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for an experienced fully on site Deskside Support Technician to provide technical assistance, troubleshooting, and maintenance for our end user computing environment, both in the office and on the shop floor of our manufacturing facility in Kingston, NY. The ideal candidates must have strong problem solving skills, good user communication abilities, and have a solid technical background to be successful in this role.

Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows desktop operating systems, laptops, mobile devices, and application software.
  • Support Office 365, Teams, printing, label printing, and peripheral devices.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and support shop-floor hardware including industrial PCs, handheld scanners, and label printers.
  • Perform device imaging, configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot end-user network connectivity including wired, wireless, and Global Protect VPN issues.
  • Respond to end-user issues via phone, email, walk-up support, and Service Now tickets.
  • Document all work in Service Now with timely updates following departmental SLAs and ticketing standards.
  • Maintain asset inventory for hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Assist with new user onboarding, account setup, MFA support, and workstation configuration.
  • Ensure compliance with Howmet cybersecurity, data handling, and device security policies.
  • Provide basic printer support, including troubleshooting issues and replacing toner and paper as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required during outages, updates, or production-critical issues.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of IT support, helpdesk, or deskside support experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to support users at all levels.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Teams, and common desktop technologies.
  • Experience deploying and supporting PCs, peripherals, and printers.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, VPN).
  • Ability to follow ticketing discipline and meet communication expectations within Service Now.
  • Must be able to obtain lawful access to export-controlled items. This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science/IT/IS, Business, Math, Engineering, Finance, Economics or Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • CompTIA A+
  • 2 years  experience in IT Operating Systems, collaboration tools, and network topologies.
  • 2 years  experience with Active Directory, Azure AD, MFA, and basic account administration.
  • 2 years  experience with IT Support Chains.
Benefits/Salary
  • The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The annual salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000.
