Embedded Linux Engineer

our client is seeking a deeply skilled embedded linux engineer to own the linux subsystem across multiple custom compute units that power their robots. You will work at the interface of hardware and system software, configuring kernels, writing drivers, provisioning devices, and ensuring stable performance on custom hardware platforms deployed at scale.

• own linux configuration, kernel tuning, and driver integration for multiple custom linux pcs
• develop and maintain device drivers and low‑level system software interacting with hardware
• bring up custom hardware platforms and handle complex board‑level debugging
• provision hardware for deployment and optimize systems for reliability at fleet scale
• work closely with firmware, electrical, and robotics teams to ensure system‑level performance
• drive improvements in system robustness across device fleets deployed in the field

• strong experience with embedded linux on custom hardware, not just off‑the‑shelf development boards
• proficiency with linux kernel internals, customizing kernel settings, writing or integrating linux drivers, and low‑level system software
• experience in environments with fleet‑scale device management
• proven ability to make complex embedded devices reliable in production
• onsite work required in sf or nyc

• experience with camera systems or camera drivers (a major plus)
• startup experience and comfort with fast iteration
• experience with iot or high‑volume consumer hardware deployments
• prior robotics experience (not required but a plus).
