You’ll find our clients across commercial and industrial sectors, the financial investor community, governments, regulators, trade bodies, and not-for-profit organisations. We provide a world-class service in partnership with an entrepreneurial and conscientious team across all of our practices.

Whichever area of the business you join, you’ll be part of an innovative, diverse and ambitious team of people. Clifford Chance is a place where the brightest minds and the best colleagues meet.

The role

Clifford Chance is the world's largest fully integrated law firm committed to leadership and innovation in legal service. We are global market leaders in major areas of legal advice, and we invest in attracting and retaining talent through development and nurture of our people.

Legal Project Management (LPM) is a market-leading function. Our LPMs are fully aligned with priority Client relationship teams and Global Business Units. You will be aligned to a Global Business Unit, impacting how we deliver high-end, complex legal advice to our largest clients.

What you will be responsible for

You will support partners on complex matters with project management leadership, delivering and implementing effective project management on large engagements.

What you will do

We are leaders in legal sector innovation, and you will contribute to shaping a rapidly developing area of law critical to the Firm's strategy. Your responsibilities include:

  • You will assist with the preparation of all project initiation documentation, including scope, resourcing and budget proposals, and then track progress against those proposals.
  • You will dissect problems and processes and apply analytical approaches to solving them.
  • You will influence colleagues across roles and seniority to adapt ways of working.
  • You will clearly explain concepts to senior stakeholders, including clients, and adapt your delivery approach as needed.
  • You will manage planning over short, medium and long term horizons, document minutes and actions, and track work streams. You will continually assess issues and provide pragmatic solutions; identify risks and propose mitigations; monitor accruals and budgets including scope changes.
  • You will advise on and engage with legal technology tools to support project delivery.
  • You will demonstrate advanced knowledge of Best Delivery technology and define requirements to support efficient delivery.
  • You will assess activities and delegate tasks to the Legal Project Analyst team to efficiently manage projects.
  • You will take regular feedback and adjust your style and plans accordingly.
  • You will deliver presentations, facilitate workshops, and participate in client pitches.
  • You will work directly with Clients, representing Clifford Chance and, when required, working from Client site locations independently.
Qualifications and experience

You will have either a background in (i) project management or legal operations, ideally within a professional services or complex matrix environment, or (ii) experience as a lawyer with matter management.

A qualification or industry-recognised certification in project management is desirable but not essential; we support team members pursuing these qualifications.

Collaboration, influencing and internal networking are key skills to make an impact as a Legal Project Manager within the Firm.

How we will support you

We invest in training and career development, with structures to aid skill development and progression. We offer support for externally recognised project management qualifications (including APM and others), change management and technology training, and access to our global training and development centre, the Academy.

Our LPM teams operate globally; you will become part of this global community with structures that connect…
