Senior Data Scientist, Generative AI – Luminate

Luminate is the preeminent entertainment data and insights company, unlocking access to the most essential, objective, and trustworthy data compiled from thousands of verified data sources. We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist, Generative AI to join our Data team in New York City, NY. The role blends modeling, tooling, and framework definition to deploy AI/ML systems in production and to elevate data quality standards across our Music and Film & TV products.

• Design, build, and deploy robust, scalable machine learning models that power core product features. Write production‑quality code and manage the end‑to‑end implementation of AI/ML systems.
• Own the full model development process: data sourcing, feature engineering, model training, validation, testing, and deployment.
• Design and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure model performance, reliability, and health in live environments.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to define what’s possible and to evaluate new tools, papers, and techniques so our products stay ahead of the curve.
• Champion best practices for AI/MLOps, including model versioning, automated training pipelines, and CI/CD for machine learning, to improve velocity and quality.

• Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience focused on building and shipping production‑level AI/ML systems.
• Deep foundational knowledge of how LLMs work; ability to discuss transformer architecture, attention mechanisms, RAG, fine‑tuning, and prompt engineering.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Python and related ecosystems, with deep experience in AI/ML frameworks (e.g., Lang Chain, PyTorch).
• Hands‑on experience deploying and managing models in a major cloud environment (AWS preferred), and deep familiarity with modern data platforms like Snowflake.
• Intuitive coding style: write elegant, efficient, and effective code in a fast‑paced, experimental environment.

• Experience building autonomous AI agents or multi‑agent systems.
• Contributions to major open‑source AI projects.
• Knowledge of model optimization techniques such as quantization or distillation.
• Experience with multimodal models (text, image, audio).

Salary Range
: $175 k – $200 k base, subject to experience, skills, and market. Additional perks complement the total compensation package.
