Manager, PEPI – Software & Tech M&A

We are looking for a Manager to lead software product and technology due diligence assessments for private equity clients and portfolio companies. The role focuses on evaluating product features, architecture, intellectual property, R&D organization, and hosting infrastructure.

The Team

A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) practice serves upper middle market and large‑cap private equity firms. We focus on companies in the $50 million–$1 billion+ range.

How You Will Contribute

You will conduct structured assessments across the full deal lifecycle: pre‑deal technology reviews, Day‑1 planning, post‑deal implementation, and performance improvement. You will deliver client‑ready exhibits and manage key stakeholder interactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in client and target interviews, interim updates, final readouts, and follow‑ups.
  • Develop and manage the data request list, coordinating with bankers and the client.
  • Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of target technologies.
  • Summarize insights into client‑ready exhibits and deliverables.
  • Ensure deliverable quality and manage day‑to‑day relationships.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of consulting or relevant industry experience, with at least five years consulting to the tech industry or specializing in software or tech‑enabled services product management or software development.
  • Desired: experience working for or with private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, or related transaction or product and tech due diligence.
  • Exemplary communication skills, both oral and written, including proven ability to develop and deliver executive‑level, client‑ready materials.
  • Demonstrated track record working with business leaders (directors and above) and private equity deal staff.
  • Excellent fact‑gathering and analytical skills, including quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Previous software/product experience in a software organization or advisory experience from a top‑tier strategy firm or Big‑4.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate tech insights into commercial implications.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, major in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or another highly analytical field.
  • Flexibility to travel at least 75 % of the time.

Salary range: $125,000 – $190,000 annually; discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance.
