Director, Marketing Automation & Data Strategy

Description

We seek an experienced marketing automation subject matter expert to expand our established omnichannel team. The Director partners with cross‑functional subject matter experts to support global pharmaceutical and biotech clients in consulting‑based and AOR engagements. The team uses an agile‑inspired methodology (lean, collaborative matrix, Kanban with adapted SCRUM) to deliver.

Key Areas of Work
  • For clients seeking omnichannel capabilities: design and execute transformation initiatives that accelerate journey to true omnichannel enterprises.
  • For clients with existing omnichannel capabilities: upskill allied abilities and serve as in‑house SME supporting agency teams translating creative campaigns into effective omnichannel campaigns.
  • Non‑standard AOR projects: work with agile‑specific teams on unique challenges.
  • SME support to standard AOR teams: provide billable resource support where needed.
Other Important Details
  • Lead client initiatives in marketing automation strategy/implementation and advanced analytics‑driven optimization.
  • Critical thinking to break audacious, ambiguous challenges into addressable work streams and roadmaps.
  • Highly customer‑facing, bridging internal Syneos network and external client relationships.
  • Stay current on emerging trends and privacy laws affecting CX Design, automation, and compliant data use.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in implementing and managing digital marketing technologies, recommending emerging tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies for improving digital campaign effectiveness, customer acquisition, and engagement.
  • Act as liaison between IT and clients to ensure seamless data integration into data lake & analytics platforms.
  • Help formulate client‑centric technology roadmaps.
  • Support streamlining and automation of campaign operations.
  • Implement marketing automation governance protocols.
  • Facilitate process standardization and best practices.
  • Audit workflows to identify automation opportunities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, governance policies.
  • Partner with analytics teams for robust tracking & reporting.
  • Monitor and plan resources & infrastructure for growth.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
  • Support client projects in an agile environment.
Qualification Requirements
  • 5‑7+ years of data‑driven marketing automation strategy experience (agency, client, consultant).
  • Proficiency in Marketo – additional platforms (Adobe Suite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Tealium, Hub Spot, Pardot, etc.) are a plus.
  • In‑depth knowledge of email marketing best practices, lead nurturing, customer segmentation.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and integration with marketing automation platforms.
  • Excellent project management, handling multiple projects.
  • Effective written & verbal communication to explain marketing technology strategies.
  • Experience with global clients & regional roll‑outs.
Additional Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Assess martech system capabilities & build prioritized roadmaps.
  • Value data quality for AI & ML.
  • Working knowledge of APIs & ETL tools (Postman, Mulesoft, Informatica, Databricks).
  • Understanding of front‑end customer experiences & back‑end connectivity.
  • HIPAA‑compliant CRM program experience.
  • Agile methodology experience.

Compensation

Base salary $140,000 – $155,000. Salary varies by experience and performance. Eligible for commissions/bonus.
