How You’ll Make An Impact
As a Supervisor in the Broadcast Operations and Technology department you will be responsible for shift‑supervising the daily operational activities of the Broadcast Operations Center. You will oversee technician performance, broadcast quality assurance, and compliance with operational standards. You’ll help design and schedule training, develop operational workflows, and lead disaster recovery processes, ensuring seamless coordination across departments and with external partners.
Your team will ensure proper content delivery for all Talk, Music News, and Sports play‑by‑play channels airing on Sirius, XM, and web platforms.
- Respond decisively and thoughtfully in high‑pressure and time‑sensitive scenarios.
- Execute Disaster Recovery (Business Continuity) sequences for Broadcast Operations Center responsibilities.
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of broadcast technologies including TS over IP.
- Apply technical knowledge of satellite, ISDN, IP CODEC, TS over IP, and other modern transmission technologies.
- Utilize thorough understanding of digital audio routing systems.
- Work independently and triage issues with minimal oversight.
- Escalate major incidents to appropriate groups and leaders.
- Leverage knowledge of audio production systems and digital audio storage.
- Familiarize with broadcast automation systems.
- Facilitate live studio show programming to air.
- Interface with other departments such as Programming, Media Engineering, and Uplink Control operations.
- Collaborate with management to ensure consistent application of processes, procedures, and protocols across all locations.
- Assist in developing operations documentation that details processes for new systems or broadcast requirements.
- Utilize checklists and workflows for Operations Center technicians.
- Oversee process adherence for groups involved with premiere live events.
- Manage tasks efficiently with close attention to detail.
- Maintain strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exhibit a positive, calm, collaborative, and accountable work ethic.
- Familiarity with Slack and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Sites, Forms, Calendar, Drive, Slides).
- Working knowledge of Lucid, Visio, CAD, or other signal flow software is a plus.
- Operate in our 24/7/365 operations centers to support all Talk, Music News, and Sports play‑by‑play programming.
- 3+ years of experience in operations or master control supervision at a major market Operations Center or broadcast network.
- Experience in technical operation with ability to interface with non-technical operators.
- Familiarity with SMPTE ST 2110.
- Preferred combination of education and experience.
- Legal right to work in the U.S.
At Sirius
XM, compensation varies based on background and experience. The base salary for this position ranges from $92,000 to $120,000, with potential for discretionary short‑term and long‑term incentives.
