We are hiring our first Underwriter
—a strategic and hands-on leader who will build underwriting discipline from the ground up. This role will shape underwriting philosophy, define pricing frameworks, partner with actuarial and product teams, and set the foundation for scalable processes and future team growth.

Beyond underwriting submissions, you’ll help refine product structure, collaborate with distribution partners, and test market appetite—all while helping shape how cloud outage risk is assessed, priced, and understood.

• Own underwriting of all submissions, from risk evaluation to pricing, terms, and structuring.
• Build underwriting foundations: guidelines, appetite, authority models, and review processes.
• Evaluate cloud environments, architecture maturity, vendor dependencies, and operational resilience to assess exposure.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data science, engineering, actuarial, and leadership to inform product evolution.
• Create frameworks and underwriting infrastructure that support automation and eventual scale.
• Engage with brokers and early customers to educate the market and validate product positioning.
• Provide portfolio insights, trend analysis, competitive intelligence, and loss modeling feedback.
• Help recruit and mentor future underwriting team members as the company grows.

Required:

• 5–10+ years of underwriting experience in cyber, tech E&O, specialty risk, parametric, or emerging digital insurance products.
• Demonstrated underwriting authority and experience structuring complex or novel insurance programs.
• Strong understanding of how digital systems fail—cloud ecosystems, SaaS dependencies, SLAs, or operational resilience frameworks.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort working in ambiguity, building process, and iterating fast.
• Excellent communication and broker relationship skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience at an insurtech, MGA, or startup environment.
• Exposure to parametric triggers, risk scoring, or automated underwriting workflows.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, Azure architecture or broader Dev Ops/SaaS technical knowledge.
