Overview
Director, Platform Security ini is a global crypto and Web3 platform with a cloud-first approach. This role leads the Platform Security team, ensures secure-by-design architectures, and works hands-on with the team to unblock work and maintain technical context.
Responsibilities- Strategic and technical leadership of Gemini's Platform Security team
- Align team-wide strategy with business needs, internal partners, and peer Security leadership
- Enable ongoing team success through hiring plans and hands-on mentorship
- Establish a Platform Security roadmap to mature capabilities and reduce toil via automation
- Foster trust-centric relationships with partner teams to achieve excellent security outcomes
- Lead development of security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines to meet GRC and audits
- Define program KPIs to measure mission success
- Provide guidance on architecture, security engineering, and business goals
- Define a customer-first process with self-service solutions to minimize friction and add value
- Manage third-party vendor relationships and decide when to build vs. buy
- 5+ years of leadership experience for cloud-native engineering and/or security teams, preferably AWS-based
- 10+ years of direct technical experience in relevant roles (e.g., Platform Engineering, Security)
- Strong experience in AWS, EKS (Kubernetes), IAM, Terraform, Git Hub Enterprise Cloud
- Experience applying industry security frameworks and standards to mature a security program
- Comfortable hiring and scaling a team
- Track record of leading teams through organizational change, with startup experience preferred
- Ability to communicate with technical stakeholders and translate feedback into program outcomes
- Pragmatic about security requirements, prioritizing business needs over “best practices” when appropriate
- Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail
This role is required to be in person twice a week at either the San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY office.

The base salary range for this role is between $230,750 – $355,000 in New York, California, and Washington. This range does not include discretionary bonus or equity. Factors used in compensation decisions include skillset, experience, job scope, and market data.
