Location: New York City (Hybrid/ In-Person)

Salary range : $110,000-$140,000

Position Summary: The Manager of HRIS oversees the organization’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS). This role ensures data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance, with a strong emphasis on efficient HR data management and payroll operations aligned with Project Renewal’s mission and values. The Manager leads HRIS initiatives, implements system enhancements, and ensures compliance with all reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

HRIS Management:

  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy, security, and integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, configurations, and workflows.
  • Lead the implementation of new HRIS modules, features, and system enhancements.
  • Manage system upgrades, testing, and integrations with other software applications.
  • Oversee vendor file management, including file creation and distribution.
  • Develop and enforce data quality standards to ensure accuracy and consistency of HR data.
  • Conduct regular audits and data clean-up to maintain a reliable database.
  • Provide training to HR staff, managers, and employees on new implementations and system updates.

Reporting & HRIS Optimization:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor laws and regulations affecting payroll and HRIS operations.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized repository of HR, payroll, and compliance reports for standardized access across departments.
  • Create and maintain a library of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for HR reporting and key HRIS processes.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate automation and AI tools to improve workflows and system efficiency.
  • Support optimization and maintenance of recruiting, learning, and performance management modules to enhance hiring, onboarding, and retention processes.
  • Review system-generated compliance and regulatory reports to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Partner with HR leadership to assess overall HRIS performance and recommend enhancements that improve accuracy, usability, and compliance.
  • Monitor system trends and recommend process improvements to strengthen data governance and system reliability.

Data, Analytics, Payroll, and Compliance:

  • Develop and lead the organization’s people analytics strategy, leveraging HRIS and payroll data to provide actionable insights to HR and executive leadership.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and scorecards focused on key workforce metrics (e.g., headcount, turnover, retention, absenteeism, overtime, labor costs, and equity indicators).
  • Translate complex data into clear, meaningful insights to inform workforce planning, budgeting, and operational decision-making.
  • Update system configurations (e.g., Ceridian/Dayforce) when company policies change, including benefits, deductions, taxes, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure payroll processes within the HRIS comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Investigate and resolve system-related payroll discrepancies in partnership with employees and managers.
  • Support payroll reporting requirements, including documentation for audits and regulatory filings.

Project Management:

  • Lead ad hoc HRIS and system-related projects, including system selection, implementation, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring completion on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership and other departments to identify system improvements that support organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the development of reports and analytics to support data-driven decision-making, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.

Training & Employee

Education:

  • Develop and implement a structured HRIS training program for all user groups, including HR staff, managers, employees, and executives.
