Overview
My client, a large New York based organization with a significant union workforce, is looking to hire a Payroll Supervisor who is fluent in Spanish to join their corporate team in Queens.
This role sits within HR and reports directly to senior payroll leadership, overseeing a team of four in a high volume, weekly payroll environment supporting approximately 4,000 employees across multiple states. The position is very hands on and requires someone who can both manage and execute, serving as a true partner to leadership rather than just processing payroll.
Responsibilities- Own union and non-union payroll review, audit controls, escalations, and payroll to general ledger coordination.
- Operate in a deadline-driven environment, collaborating closely with Accounting and Finance to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and accountability.
- Contribute to a major HRIS transformation and ERP integration, participating in meaningful systems implementation and data migration work while strengthening internal controls and workflows.
- Balance delegation to a strong team with personal accountability for output; act as a professional partner to leadership.
- Experience processing payroll for 1,500 to 2,000+ employees in a union-heavy environment.
- Fluent in Spanish and polished, professional communicator.
- Strong tenure and stability in prior roles; ability to work hands-on while leading a team.
- Hybrid work schedule (typically 3 to 4 days onsite); flexibility around weekly payroll deadlines.
Compensation is targeting $95K to $115K base. The role is hybrid, typically 3 to 4 days onsite depending on payroll week.
