Payroll Coordinator

ONIVERSE is looking for a dynamic Payroll Coordinator to join its headquarters in New York City, NY!

Job Title: Payroll Coordinator

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: HR Admin Manager

Location: NY

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Hourly Pay: $30 / $35 USD hourly

Payroll Processing

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll for all employees
• Review timesheets, overtime, and other payroll inputs for accuracy and compliance
• Ensure correct application of deductions, taxes, benefits, and garnishments
• Prepare and submit payroll for approval, and ensure timely payroll disbursement

Compliance & Recordkeeping

• Maintain accurate payroll records, reports, and documentation for audits and compliance
• Ensure payroll processing complies with federal, state, and local labor laws, including FLSA regulations
• Assist with audits and reporting requirements as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll data

Employee Support & Communication

• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timesheets, deductions, and pay discrepancies
• Collaborate with HR and management to resolve payroll-related issues
• Educate employees on payroll processes, policies, and procedures

System & Process Improvement

• Maintain and update payroll system data, including employee additions, terminations, and changes
• Identify process improvements to streamline payroll operations and enhance efficiency
• Assist with testing and implementation of payroll system updates or new software

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related experience
• 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state workforce environment
• Experience with payroll software and timekeeping systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Kronos, Workday)
