About Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, and creative expression, MAP provides safe, consistent, and empowering spaces for young people to thrive. We are seeking a Volunteer HR Generalist to support the day-to-day operations of MAP’s Human Resources team. This role will focus on volunteer onboarding, recordkeeping, and coordination of HR processes to ensure a smooth and supportive experience for all volunteers. It is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit HR, people operations, or organizational development.

• Assist with the onboarding process, including communication, documentation, and orientation scheduling
• Maintain accurate volunteer records and HR databases
• Support compliance with HR policies and procedures
• Coordinate communication between HR leadership and volunteers
• Help organize HR initiatives such as training, engagement activities, and feedback collection
• Provide administrative support to the HR team and Director of HR

• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Gmail)
• Interest in HR, nonprofit management, or people operations
• Prior HR or administrative experience (preferred but not required)

• Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week
• Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
• Fully remote with virtual meetings
