Employment Specialist

Position Summary

The Employment Specialist supports individuals in achieving meaningful, sustainable employment by providing job readiness training, individualized career planning, employer engagement, and ongoing employment retention support. This role works closely with clients facing barriers to employment and collaborates with internal teams and community partners to promote long-term economic stability.

• Conduct comprehensive vocational assessments to identify clients’ skills, interests, employment history, and barriers to employment
• Develop individualized employment plans aligned with client goals and program requirements
• Provide job readiness services including résumé development, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, and job search strategies
• Assist clients with job placement by identifying suitable employment opportunities and connecting them with employers
• Build and maintain relationships with local employers, workforce agencies, and community partners
• Support clients with applications, onboarding, and understanding workplace expectations
• Provide follow-up and retention services to support job stability and career advancement
• Coordinate with case managers, clinicians, and program staff to ensure holistic service delivery
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic case management systems
• Track employment outcomes and assist with program reporting and compliance requirements
• Facilitate workshops or group employment-related trainings as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in workforce development, vocational rehabilitation, case management, or a related field
• Experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment (e.g., homelessness, justice involvement, behavioral health, substance use, or economic hardship)
• Strong knowledge of job search techniques, labor market trends, and employment resources
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to build rapport with diverse populations and employers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems
