Overview
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Human Resources team at Marsh Mc Lennan . This role will be based in New York and support our Guy Carpenter business. It is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Human Resources Manager for Guy Carpenter, you will coach, support, and advise People Managers on our Client Support Service (CSS) and Global Analytics and Advisory (GAA) teams, aiming to develop and enhance the quality of people management throughout the colleague lifecycle. This role will also include project work to support business success.
This role is a great opportunity for a developing HR Generalist / ER professional to work with People Managers, Business leaders, HR Centers of Excellence (CoE), and the People Function team across the US and Canada.
Responsibilities- Provide guidance and support to our CSS and GAA People Managers across the full range of activities in the HR portfolio, including and not limited to performance management, skills and competence development and learning, succession planning, absence / leaves management, change management, organizational effectiveness, compensation, benefits and total rewards including the year-end processes.
- Support employee relations matters including investigations, performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, appeals, etc. – where matters are more complex, the HR Manager will engage with the Employee Relations CoE for advice and support.
- Cultivate strong relationships with functional teams (Tax, Finance, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition) and support the alignment between the people and business strategy.
- Ensure that regulatory and statutory obligations are discharged including statutory and/or regulatory reporting requirements.
- Consult with People Partners and CoEs to determine best practices, continuously improve delivery methods, and especially consider country-specific nuances to guide local implementations.
- Support and from time to time take responsibility for coordinating, the rollout and delivery of HR programs and contribute to process improvement.
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in HR alongside a requirement for suitable qualifications.
- Experience supporting colleagues and leaders in both the US and Canada.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact.
- Experienced in supporting managers with employee relations case management including investigations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach managers at most levels in the business through all aspects of the employee life cycle including in more complex situations.
- Experience of successfully supporting project/initiative implementation across a population of managers recognizing the broader business objectives.
- Thorough understanding of US and Canadian laws, regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with colleagues in business and in wider HR community.
- Advanced technical skills MS Office Suite and enthusiasm for learning new skills as needed.
- Advanced English language proficiency.
