About HIFI
HIFI is a financial technology company working on how money is represented in software. We build developer tools that allow value to be programmed—with rules, behavior, and logic embedded directly at the asset level. Developers already use our platform and API's to move billions of dollars in production environments around the world. But we view this as the beginning rather than the end.
Founded in 2022, our organization is flat and our team is talent dense. We are in person at our office in Manhattan and are intentional about who we work with.
About the TeamHIFI is building its People & Culture function for the first time. As the company scales from an early-stage startup into a long-term, category-defining platform, this role will help define how HIFI hires, develops, and supports its team - not just today, but over the next decade.
The Head of People & Culture works directly with the founders and leadership team to shape org design, talent strategy, and culture from the ground up. This is a hands-on, high-trust role with real ownership and real influence - not a back-office HR function. You’ll be joining a newly formed team at an inflection point in the company’s growth, with the opportunity to build systems, norms, and practices that scale with the business while preserving the talent density and standards that make HIFI what it is.
If you’re excited about building something foundational, partnering closely with founders, and owning how people experience a company as it grows, this role is for you.
- Build and own HIFI’s People & Culture function from scratch
- Partner closely with founders and leadership on hiring plans, org design, and headcount strategy
- Lead end-to-end recruiting across Engineering, GTM, Compliance, and Operations roles
- Design HIFI onboarding, performance, feedback, and career development frameworks
- Be a trusted partner to employees - supporting growth, clarity, and accountability
- Help define and reinforce HIFI’s culture as we grow quickly and globally
- Own people operations fundamentals: compensation bands, benefits, policies, and compliance
- Act as a cultural steward while balancing speed, rigor, and empathy
- 4–8 years of experience in People, Talent, or Culture roles, ideally in high-growth startups
- Has scaled a high-bar org from ~25 → 100+
- Is allergic to process for process’s sake
- Can disagree with the CEO credibly
- You’re business-minded, founder-aligned, and comfortable operating with ambiguity
- You’re warm, direct, and trusted, people naturally come to you
- You care deeply about culture, but you’re pragmatic about execution
- You want real ownership
This is a chance to define how one of the next generation of financial infrastructure companies grows - who we hire, how we work, and what we value. If you’re excited about building something foundational, partnering closely with founders, and shaping a culture from day one, this role is for you.
Additional RequirementMust be within a commutable distance from our office and able to work in person most days of the week.
