About the Club
The Windmill Club has been a private, community-centered seasonal social and recreational club for more than 75 years. Members enjoy swimming, boating, tennis and pickleball, a sandy beach, family programming, and a vibrant food and‑beverage experience in a restored boathouse clubhouse. Windmill is known for its welcoming culture, multigenerational membership, and a tradition of warm, personal hospitality.
Position OverviewThe Club Manager is the visible leader and steward of the member experience Manager manages all aspects of the club including its activities and the relationships between the club and its Board of Directors, members, guests, employees, and community while coordinating and administering the club’s policies as defined by its Board of Directors. This role blends hospitality leadership, people management, event execution, and property operations.
The Manager sets the tone for service, culture, and professionalism; leads staff across Food & Beverage and Waterfront/Lifeguards; oversees communications with the membership; plans and executes events and private functions; and ensures the grounds, lake, and facilities are cared for to the club’s standards. Success at Windmill depends on presence, judgment, and relationships—being on the floor, on the beach, at events, and in daily contact with members and staff.
Responsibilities
- Hospitality Leadership & Member Experience
• Serve as the face of the Club—welcoming members and guests, anticipating needs, and working with Board of Governors to resolve issues with discretion and empathy.
• Set, model, and enforce service standards across all member‑facing operations.
• Handle member feedback, concerns, and special requests promptly and professionally. - Food & Beverage Operations
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership to the Food & Beverage team; partner with the Chef on menus, staffing, and service standards.
• Oversee daily service in the snack bar, bar, dining areas, and special functions.
• Ensure consistent quality, cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety requirements. - Waterfront & Safety Operations
• Lead and support Waterfront/Lifeguard operations to ensure a safe, well‑run, family‑friendly environment.
• Work with Waterfront Director to coordinate scheduling, training, and supervision of lifeguards and beach staff.
• Maintain a culture of safety, visibility, and professionalism on the lake and beach. - Events, Private Functions & Programming
• Plan, sell, coordinate, and execute club events, member socials, and private parties—from first inquiry through post‑event follow‑up.
• Act as the on‑site lead (“maître d’”) during events: managing timelines, staffing, service flow, and guest experience.
• Collaborate with culinary, beverage, waterfront, and facilities teams on logistics, staffing plans, layouts, and execution.
• Work with Windmill mini‑camp director to facilitate permitting, staffing, operations and other required club support. - Staff Leadership & Culture (People First)
• Lead with visibility, empathy, and high standards; build trust with seasonal and year‑round staff.
• Recruit, onboard, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate team members across F&B, Waterfront, and front‑of‑house roles.
• Create an environment where staff feel supported, respected, and accountable—because great member experiences start with engaged teams.
• Foster a collaborative, service‑driven culture; address performance issues with fairness and consistency; recognize excellence.
• Be present on the floor, on the beach, and at events to model expectations and support the team in real time. - Member Communications
• Serve as primary author and coordinator of member communications related to operations, events, policies, and seasonal updates.
• Maintain calendars, announcements, and clear pre‑event information.
• Ensure tone is warm, clear, and aligned with Windmill’s community values. - Property, Grounds & Facilities Stewardship
• Oversee the day‑to‑day condition of the clubhouse, lake, beach, courts, and grounds.
