The Program Office team brings artist and creator visions to life by providing behind‑the‑scenes support for events and programs. There are multiple events each day, including music and orchestral performances, visual presentations, special functions, lectures, conferences, and meetings. Last‑minute changes are part of the daily work routine. Amphitheater performances are typically in the afternoon and evening.
CompensationCompensation begins at $16.00 per hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, may increase to up to $19.50 per hour.
Work Day- Manages hospitality for each performance, in accordance with the performance rider.
- Collaborates with the Production Manager to anticipate and fulfill the needs of the artist and touring personnel.
- Coordinates and oversees all aspects of backstage hospitality, including catering, accommodations, transportation, and amenities.
- Conducts regular inspections of backstage areas, dressing rooms, and hospitality spaces to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
- Coordinates with facility maintenance staff to address repairs, maintenance issues, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Maintains a high level of communication and responsiveness to artists’ and touring personnel’s requests and preferences.
- Ensures the cleanliness, functionality, and ambiance of backstage areas, dressing rooms, and hospitality spaces.
- Identifies opportunities to enhance backstage hospitality offerings and provide unique experiences for artists and guests.
- Monitors and assists in managing hospitality expenses and vendor contracts.
- Trains and supervises hospitality staff to deliver exceptional service.
- Partners with local backstage caterers to ensure the artists’ rider requirements are met and the culinary experience exceeds expectations.
- Manages dining spaces for cleanliness, efficiency, and quality.
- Oversees food, beverage, and dressing room set‑up and clean‑up.
- Manages other hospitality needs for guest artists and artist crews.
- Controls costs and inventory.
- Occasional local errands, including purchasing supplies or materials, may be required. Running errands may involve limited use of a personal vehicle. Chautauqua Institution will reimburse work‑related travel expenses in accordance with its policy and procedures. Employees must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program provides a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90 days from the first physical date of work. For seasonal positions working less than 6 months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30 days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season.
The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August.
Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part‑time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre‑season) and beyond season (post‑season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.
>Applicants will be scheduled for an average of 37. hours per week. Scheduled hours can be between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. and are based on the popular entertainment performance schedule. Hours may include late night, weekends, and holidays and are based on business needs. Living on the Grounds
