Salary: $85000 / Year + 10% quarterly bonus (depending on experience)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours/week)
Eligible for Overtime: As needed
Travel: Required between NY, NJ, and MA sites

About Our ClientOur client is a growing affordable housing property management organization overseeing a portfolio of multi-state communities. They are expanding their compliance team to support continued growth across regulated housing programs.
Job DescriptionAddison Group is seeking a Compliance Specialist to oversee regulatory compliance across a portfolio of affordable housing properties. This individual will conduct audits, support recertifications, collaborate with site teams, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local housing regulations.
The ideal candidate has direct experience working with government-regulated affordable housing programs and is comfortable traveling between multiple sites.
Key ResponsibilitiesAffordable Housing Compliance
- Conduct detailed file audits to identify missing documentation, calculation errors, or compliance gaps
- Perform on-site reviews of resident files, including new move-ins, recertifications, and pending documentation
- Maintain tracking logs for completed and upcoming audits
- Partner with community managers to ensure corrections are implemented accurately and timely
- Prepare documentation and support properties during regulatory audits conducted by state and federal agencies
- Review applicant files to determine eligibility for affordable housing programs within the portfolio
- Respond to site staff inquiries regarding income verification, asset calculations, rent limits, and compliance standards
- Assist with implementation of updated income and rent limits, as well as utility allowance calculations
Support annual contract renewals, rent adjustments, and monthly housing assistance payment tracking
- Ensure compliance with affordable housing programs including:
- U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
- New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC)
- Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)
- Monitor adherence to Fair Housing, ADA, and other apartment industry regulations
- Participate in safety and compliance training as required
- Report regulatory violations, safety concerns, or operational risks appropriately
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing compliance standards and regulatory changes
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of affordable/multi-family housing experience
- Minimum 2 years of property management compliance experience
- Direct experience working with HUD, HDC, and LIHTC programs required
Technical
Skills:
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager Property Management software
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
Soft Skills:
- Proactive and self-directed
- Personable and confident communicator
- Strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multi-site teams
Education &
Certifications:
- Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) or similar certification preferred
- Must be willing and able to travel between properties in NY, NJ, and MA
- Candidates should be prepared to discuss direct experience working with HUD, HDC, and LIHTC programs
