Salary Range: From $63,361 to $80,655 annually

Appointment: Full-Time, Permanent, Competitive Class

Workweek: Day shift Tuesday – Saturday with flexibility required based on operational need. Pass days Sunday/Monday. Hours per week 40. Workday 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM. No flextime, mandatory overtime, compressed workweek, or telecommuting.

Responsibilities

Residential Program Managers have administrative and supervisory responsibility for the health, care, and safety of individuals diagnosed with mental illness residing in State Operated Community Residences (SOCR) and State Operated Residential Care Centers for Adults (SORCCA). Under the supervision of a higher level facility-based individual, you will oversee and manage the overall operation of the residence and rehabilitative program services provided by residence staff, ensuring delivery of culturally competent mental health services.

Duties may include but are not limited to: ensuring necessary support services are provided to residents; ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing; planning, assigning, reviewing work of staff; evaluating performance; training staff; preparing and monitoring the residence budget; requisitioning supplies and equipment; ensuring reports and records on resident care are completed accurately and in a timely manner; ensuring compliance with standards and regulations;

developing rules and procedures as necessary; responding to crisis situations and emergencies; investigating and reporting incidents involving residents or staff; maintaining linkages with appropriate psychiatric center staff; and developing positive relationships with community and service providers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Residential Program Manager 1 if they have a bachelor’s degree and one year of experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness in a residential setting.
  • Transfer Opportunity – have permanent status as a Residential Program Manager 1 and be eligible for lateral transfer or be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.
