Columbia University's Department of Dermatology invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Professor on the tenure track. This position is part of a strategic expansion under the leadership of the Department Chair, Dr. Aimee Payne, aimed at advancing the department's legacy of transformative research and clinical innovation.
About Columbia DermatologyColumbia Dermatology has over a century-long tradition of excellence in dermatologic research, education, and patient care. Our faculty have pioneered landmark discoveries including:
- The use of corticosteroids for autoimmune skin diseases
- Development of the antifungal agent nystatin
- Innovations in photopheresis and Janus kinase inhibitors
- Advances in precision medicine, tissue engineering, and diagnostics
The department is internationally recognized for its contributions to skin cancer, autoimmunity, bioengineering, wound healing, translational science, and more.
Responsibilities- Lead and expand research initiatives within the Irving Comprehensive Skin Cancer Center
- Develop an independent, externally funded research program in basic, translational, or clinical dermatology
- Collaborate across CUIMC and Columbia University to foster interdisciplinary research
- Mentor trainees and junior faculty
- Contribute to teaching and service within the department and university
- Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and scholarship.
- Commitment to advancing dermatologic science and improving patient outcomes.
- Experience or interest in skin cancer research.
- Eligibility for appointment at the Associate Professor level within CUIMC.
